Johnson and Craig Join GrayRobinson’s Miami Office as Shareholders

Attorneys Christopher N. Johnson and Ted C. Craig recently joined the Miami office of GrayRobinson, P.A., as equity shareholders. Both practitioners come from Hunton & Williams and will continue working in the practice areas of litigation, appeals and arbitration. Throughout the last few months, GrayRobinson has expanded its South Florida practice areas considerably. Most recently, Jay Thornton, also from Hunton & Williams, joined the Fort Lauderdale office in May.

DLA Piper Opens Miami Office and Announces Agreement with Law Firm Interjuris Abogados in Venezuela

Representing the next steps of the firm’s strategic plan for Latin America, DLA Piper today announced that effective March 1 it will open a Miami office with the addition of leading international arbitration lawyers Pedro J. Martinez-Fraga and C. Ryan Reetz. Jones Walker’s Miami Receives Three New Attorneys

Jones Walker has boosted its Miami office with the hire of three attorneys.  D. Renee Jenkins joins the firm as special counsel and was previously with Adorno & Yoss.  Real Estate associate, Gregory W. Kuehnle, joins from Williams Mullen.  Constance D. Russell will be an associate at Jones Walker after completing federal clerkship with the Honorable Catharine R. Carruthers, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Middle District of North Carolina.

Greenberg Bags Another

Zuckerman Spaeder Will Close its Miami office

Zuckerman Spaeder announced that it plans to close its Miami office due to loosing five of its attorneys to Carlton Fields. Departing are the following: managing partner Walter Tache, partners Michael S. Pasano, Stephen J. Bronis and Thomas J. Meeks, and of counsel Paul A. Calli. After closing its Miami office, Zuckerman will have one remaining office in Tampa, Florida.

Hunton & Williams Hires Tax Partner

Hunton & Williams has announced that Michael A. Silva will join their Miami office as a partner within their private wealth tax practice. Silva has 13 years of experience with tax law as well as over a decade of international tax experience in addition to having been an adjunct professor of law at the University of Miami. Silva will join Hunton & Williams partner Cary Tolley in the tax practice.

Holland & Knight Partners Depart to Start New Firm

Six Holland & Knight Miami partners have announced their departure from the firm to start their own boutique. The Coral Gables firm will be known as Avila Rodriguez Hernandez Mena & Ferri. Former head of H&K’s banking and finance group, Alcides Avila, will be joined by partners Wilfredo Rodriguez, Eugenio Hernandez, Patricia Hernandez, Daniel Mena, and Marco Ferri; associate Asnardo Garro Jr. is also joining. Holland & Knight’s Miami office executive partner, Peter Prieto, is not worried about the loss of the partners, and said that the remaining attorneys cover all the same areas of expertise.
