Dentons launched its Intellectual Property and Technology practice in Italy with the recruitment of partner Giovanni Francesco Casucci. He joins with a team of five, including senior associates Matteo Casucci, Gianluigi A. Muscas and Serena Tavolaro as well as associate Serena Spadavecchia and trainee Sara Massalongo. The team joins from Bardehle Pagenberg, one of the most reputed European IP boutique firm, whose Italian office Casucci set up in 2013. The team will be based in Milan.
Casucci advises clients on industrial and intellectual property and is highly reputed for patent trademarks and design litigation. He has successfully handled landmark cases for clients such as Occlutech, Arco Flos, Timberland and more recently Thun in a very significant case before the Italian Supreme Court.
He supports clients in negotiating and managing technology transfer, licensing, and selective distribution agreements. In addition, he has longstanding experience in dealing with China-related IP matters and supports the EU’s China IPR SME Helpdesk to help European businesses protect and enforce their intellectual property rights in China.
He is ranked as a leading individual for Intellectual Property in Italy in all major legal directories, including Chambers & Partners Europe, IAM Patent 1000 and WTR 1000.
Casucci is Director of the Anti-counterfeiting Study Centre in Milan and co-director of the training course for patent and trademark lawyers and advisors at the Polytechnic University of Milan. He is also a qualified Europe Patent Litigator.
