Global law firm K&L Gates LLP welcomes Elio Marena as a partner in the corporate practice. He joins K&L Gates’ Milan office from Colonna Caramanti.
Marena focuses his practice on corporate transactions such as mergers and acquisitions and private equity transactions, as well as general corporate matters. This includes assisting domestic and international industrial and financial investors in various manufacturing sectors, including with respect to distressed situations, joint ventures, domestic and cross-border commercial transactions, and corporate governance issues.
Marena’s arrival follows the earlier additions of corporate partners Jason Lee (Orange County), Courtney Thomas (Raleigh), Yoanna Stefanova (Luxembourg), and Josh Berick (New York) during the past year. They are among nearly 130 partners and of counsel the firm has welcomed across its platform since the beginning of 2020.
“We are delighted that Elio has joined the firm in Milan,” said Giampaolo Salsi, managing partner of K&L Gates’ Milan office. “His addition to our already strong corporate practice in Milan is another key step in building a first-in-class practice for international and local businesses in Italy.”
K&L Gates’ corporate practice is one of the most substantial in the legal industry, with more than 500 lawyers in offices on five continents assisting clients in the structuring, financing, and completion of domestic, international, and cross-border transactions. The group serves as counsel to a broad array of Global 500, Fortune 100, FTSE 100 corporations, privately held and venture-backed companies, partnerships, private equity firms, other investment funds, management groups, and entrepreneurs.
Dr. Thomas Lappe, co-leader of K&L Gates’ corporate practice area, commented: “For our clients, Italy is one of the important jurisdictions when it comes to European cross-border transactions. Elio’s arrival further builds our leading Italian M&A bench and our seamlessly integrated service on international M&A deals.”
Also joining the firm’s Milan office is Giulio Azzaretto, who arrives as a counsel with a focus on cyber law and cybersecurity practice.
