The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP today announced that Ted Barthel has joined the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group as a partner in its Milwaukee office. Barthel joins the firm from the Milwaukee office of Husch Blackwell.
Barthel focuses his practice on advising decision makers in the protection of key business innovations with emphasis on patents, negotiation of intellectual property agreements/licenses, and providing trademark counsel. His clients include sole inventors, start-up entities, emerging businesses and Fortune Global 500® companies.
“Ted’s experience in patent counsel and trademarks is a great asset to Quarles & Brady and our clients,” said Kevin Long, office managing partner of Quarles & Brady’s Milwaukee office. “We continue to invest heavily to expand our Intellectual Property team. This is intentional because the needs of business today and tomorrow require it. Our IP team is the fastest growing area of our firm and we are among the fastest growing IP groups nationally. We believe we have the deepest and most technology-savvy group of legal professionals in Wisconsin by a healthy margin, and Ted’s expertise adds to that strength. We are thrilled that he has joined our firm.”
Prior to entering the practice of law, Barthel worked as a production and research chemist at a leading global chemical, life science and biotechnology company. He is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, where he served a space operations officer with responsibilities for satellite launch and command and control. He also served as mission controller for the successful launch of Milstar Flight 2, a billion-dollar military communications satellite.
Barthel received his Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law and his Bachelor of Arts from Carroll College in Wisconsin.
