Coughlin Duffy LLP announced today it has changed its name to Coughlin Midlige & Garland LLP.
“This is an exciting time for our firm. We’re growing, we’re hiring, and we’re evolving our brand,” said Managing Partner Suzanne C. Midlige. “I want to be clear that while our name is changing, our services are not. As we embark on this next chapter, we look forward to continuing to grow our core practices – from insurance and reinsurance, to wealth management, employment and labor, corporate, commercial and commercial real estate – and to provide exceptional, cost-effective solutions to our clients’ legal needs.”
The name change reflects the withdrawal of Timothy Duffy, who recently departed the firm. The new name conveys continued brand recognition while reinforcing the firm’s commitment to its insurance, commercial, and transactional practices.
Coughlin and Midlige are founding members of the firm and practice in the Insurance and Reinsurance Services Group. James B. Garland joined the firm shortly after it was founded in 2004 and is the practice group leader for the Estate, Trust, Taxation, Elder Law, and Guardianship Group.
For nearly 17 years, the firm has operated as a boutique with several highly specialized areas of concentration, including all types of litigated and non-litigated matters, on behalf of regional, national, and international corporate and individual clients in the insurance, trusts and estates, commercial and complex litigation, employment and labor, commercial real estate, and many other industries. It is nationally and internationally recognized for its diversified insurance and reinsurance practice.
Even during the global pandemic, Coughlin Midlige & Garland has been expanding. The firm has made several additions to support its growing insurance and reinsurance practice and is in ongoing discussions regarding expansion in other areas of the firm’s practices.
“The firm remains committed to continuously enhancing our talent to better service the needs of our clients,” said Midlige. “I am confident this positive momentum will propel our firm forward for many years to come.”
