Dentons announced today that Evgenia Laurson has joined its Banking and Finance and Energy and Natural Resources practices as partner in the Moscow office.
Laurson’s practice focuses on representing major domestic and international banks and corporations on complex, cross-border financings in a wide range of sectors, including oil & gas and metals & mining. Her clients include major Russian energy and mining companies such as EuroChem, Novatek and Bashneft, as well as leading European financial institutions such as BNP Paribas, ING, Natixis and Raiffeisen.
Laurson has led legal teams in a number of large-scale landmark transactions. These include her recent work acting for Eurochem on a US$750 million project financing from a syndicate of international and Russian banks in connection with its Usolskiy potash project and representing the borrower in a US$2.5 billion financing for the Beineu Shymkent Pipeline project by the China Development Bank in Kazakhstan to integrate gas pipelines into a unified gas system in Kazakhstan.
Her innovative transactional approach has contributed to the successful completion of a number of pioneering deals, such as the award-winning €750 million financing of a PVC plant in Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod, that was hailed by Trade Finance Magazine as having established a new “Russian project finance template.” Laurson also played a key role in the ground-breaking US$20 billion financing of the Sakhalin II LNG project in Russia.
Tomasz Dabrowski, Dentons’ Europe Chief Executive Officer, commented, “Evgenia is well-known as a leading player in the energy, natural resources and project finance arena, and her arrival will significantly strengthen our global capability in these areas.”
Florian Schneider, Dentons’ Moscow Office Managing Partner, noted, “We are very happy to welcome Evgenia to our team. Her unique domestic and international project finance experience and breadth of knowledge of the Russian and CIS energy and natural resources sectors will become a real benefit to our clients.”
Evgenia Laurson added, “The Firm’s innovative, client-centric approach, combined with its globally renowned Banking and Finance and Energy practices, drew me to Dentons. I look forward to contributing to the Firm’s continued success and, more importantly, the success of our clients.”
