K&L Gates Expands Moscow Office with Addition of Real Estate and Corporate Partners

Global law firm K&L Gates LLP has added real estate partner Andrei V. Soukhomlinov and corporate and finance partner Dmitry K. Gladkov to its Moscow office. Soukhomlinov joins K&L Gates from Salans LLP, where he was co-head of its Russian real estate/construction practice, while Gladkov was formerly the general counsel for Russia/CIS at leading Russian investment bank Aton and, prior to that, at UBS.

Morgan Lewis Strengthens International Practice with Additional Growth in London, Expansion into Eastern Europe and Central Asia

Morgan Lewis today confirmed that ten partners will join the firm’s Business and Finance Practice, resident in the UK, Russia, and Kazakhstan. With the arrival of this group, the firm will continue to cement its presence in London—where it will have grown from 21 to 45 attorneys over the past year—and will launch new offices in Moscow and Almaty. Hogan Lovells Advises Bilfinger Berger Group on its First Russian Joint Venture

Hogan Lovells advised worldwide construction and industrial group Bilfinger Berger, a Germany listed vehicle with multibillion Euro assets, on the establishment of its first Russian joint venture with Russian major power plant outfitter Tyazhmash. A Bilfinger Berger group company, Babcock Borsig Steinmueller, GmbH will hold a 51 percent stake in the new joint venture company ZAO Bilfinger Babcock Tyazhmash. The deal was closed on 27 March 2012.

Hogan Lovells Advises Russian Mining Company on the Sale of a 50% Stake in Yaroslavskaya Gornorudnaya Kompaniya

Hogan Lovells advised  RGRK (Russian Mining Company) on the sale of a 50% stake in a limited liability company “Yaroslavskaya Gornorudnaya Kompaniya”, the sole producer and supplier of fluorspar concentrate in Russia, to the Hong Kong listed aluminium and alumina giant UC RUSAL.  As a result of the deal, UC RUSAL will strengthen its own resource base as it looks to be self-sufficient in raw materials.  The deal, which signed in January 2012, will complete in the week of 13 February.
