Global law firm Reed Smith has today announced that it will be expanding its European corporate practice with the hire of corporate transactional partner Florian Hirschmann in Munich. Florian will join from DLA Piper where he co-headed the China desk.
Florian specialises in private equity and M&A work, with a particular focus on the representation of Chinese funds and strategic financial investors investing in Germany. He also represents European-based funds and German corporates.
At Reed Smith, Florian will work closely with colleagues in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong on inbound and outbound investment between China and Europe.
Delphine Currie, Reed Smith partner and co-chair of the firm’s corporate practice said: “It has been our ambition for some time to continue to deepen the bench strength of our corporate practice in each of our key European markets and during the past 18 months we have seen the team grow considerably in London and Paris. Florian’s arrival in Munich will complement our existing capabilities and ensure we are able to offer our clients an even greater corporate service across Europe”.
Oliver Rathje, Munich office managing partner, commented: “The expansion of our offices in Germany remains a key commitment for us as a business as we continue to seek opportunities for growth in line with client demand. We look forward to welcoming Florian to the firm and continuing to grow our presence in the jurisdiction.”
Reed Smith’s European corporate practice has undergone significant growth over the past year with the arrival of a team from King & Wood Mallesons at the start of 2017 specialising in corporate, M&A, private equity and tax; as well as a tax team from Winston & Strawn who joined the Paris office in March. In total, Reed Smith’s corporate team across Europe and the Middle East currently stands at 115 lawyers.
