Orrick announced today that Fabian von Samson-Himmelstjerna has joined the firm’s M&A and Private Equity Group in Munich. Fabian is the second addition to Orrick’s Munich office in the last few weeks following Thomas Schmid, who joined the firm as head of Orrick’s German M&A and Private Equity team from Weil, Gotshal in November 2015.
“Munich is a strong and upcoming hub for Orrick’s corporate work in Germany and Europe as a whole,” said Oliver Duys, Co-Managing Partner of the Orrick’s German offices, along with Wilhelm Nolting-Hauff. “Fabian’s experience in cross-border M&A and private equity and deep background in the banking and financial services sector make him an ideal fit.”
A qualified German Rechtsanwalt, Fabian focuses on cross-border private and public M&A and private equity work, with an emphasis on acquisitions and divestitures, public takeovers, joint ventures, carve-outs and portfolio transactions. In keeping with Orrick’s strength counseling the financial services sector, Fabian advises German and international financial institutions, corporate entities and financial investors. He also counsels clients in the renewables, engineering and automotive sectors, Germany’s largest industry. In 2012-13, Fabian was seconded to Deutsche Bank, where he worked on various cross-border M&A and integration projects. He is a graduate of the Universities of Bonn, Berlin and Gottingen, from which he received his Dr Jur.
“I am excited to be working at a top global firm like Orrick and to be joining at a time when the Munich office is experiencing significant growth. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the US, Asia, the EU and Germany on cross-border transactions,” said Fabian.
