Am Law 100 firm Polsinelli welcomes David A. King to its Health Care Litigation and Disputes Practice in Nashville. King joins Polsinelli from the Nashville office of Bass, Berry & Sims, PLC.
King joins the firm as a shareholder with a national practice representing health care providers in complex payor and patient disputes, including national class actions. In a career that has spanned over three decades, he has counseled for-profit and nonprofit hospital systems, ambulatory surgery centers, behavioral health providers, physician groups, medical device companies, air ambulance companies, and other ancillary service providers. He is an accomplished health care and trial attorney who brings direct and efficient solutions to his clients’ most complex business problems.
“David’s skill in the courtroom coupled with his deep knowledge of complex health insurance issues make him an invaluable asset for our clients,” said Polsinelli’s Health Care Department Chair, Matthew J. Murer. “He is pragmatic and has a wealth of knowledge that will help our clients, which are some of the largest national health care providers. David is a highly accomplished litigator who will work with clients in Nashville and nationally as they make their way through the ever-changing health care reimbursement landscape.”
King represents health care providers on matters involving disputes with health insurance companies such as contract disputes, medical necessity denials, out-of-network underpayments and related legal issues involving the Affordable Care Act and ERISA. He also advises his clients on managed care strategies and contracting, as well as proposed laws seeking to establish rates and/or dispute resolution procedures for out-of-network providers.
Polsinelli’s Health Care department has been growing exponentially nationwide. In Nashville, King is joined by two additional recent hires: Counsel Meri Barr Gordon and Associate Luke Salyers. Both are highly skilled health care litigators; Gordon advises clients in connection with various health care dispute matters, focusing on resolving managed care disputes between insurers and health care providers and device manufacturers regarding out-of-network reimbursement, coverage issues and medical necessity denials, while Salyers focuses his practice on managed care disputes and strategic advice, providing comprehensive representation to hospital systems, medical device manufacturers and other health care providers.
The Polsinelli Health Care department represents one of the largest concentrations of health care attorneys and professionals in the nation. From the strength of its national platform, the firm advises clients on the full range of hospital-physician lifecycle and business issues confronting health care providers across the United States.
“Polsinelli is one of the most respected health care law firms in the country, and I believe my clients will benefit tremendously from Polsinelli’s institutional knowledge and our collaboration with many of the top health care attorneys nationwide,” King said. “We have an excellent – and growing – Nashville team, and I’m excited about this opportunity to enhance our value-add to current clients and to build relationships with new clients.”
