Day Pitney is pleased to announced that James P. Carlon has rejoined the firm, as partner in the Real Estate, Land Use and Environmental department.
Mr. Carlon, who was previously a commercial real estate associate at Day Pitney, has extensive experience representing clients on diverse commercial real estate transactions throughout the United States, including construction and permanent financing, acquisitions, sales and lease transactions. His practice encompasses different types of commercial real estate assets, including office developments, retail property and apartment complexes. He has also consulted with real estate clients on bankruptcy and restructuring matters relating to the bankruptcy of large retail tenants of numerous shopping centers throughout the United States.
“We are pleased to welcome Jim back to Day Pitney,” said Dennis Reznick, chair of Day Pitney’s Real Estate, Environmental and Land Use group. “He brings with him a broad range of experience and we expect him to help our group to continue to provide strategic counsel to guide clients through complex transactions involving real estate matters.”
In addition to his real estate practice, Mr. Carlon has also been recognized for his pro bono work. In 2012, the YAI Network, a nonprofit that provides housing assistance to developmentally disabled adults among other services, presented him with its Community Advocacy Award. The award recognized his work helping the organization renegotiate the lease of one of it’s oldest and largest Manhattan residences after the landlord served a non-renewal lease notice.
“Day Pitney is recognized as having one of the premier real estate practices in the Northeast, and I am excited to be re-joining a high-caliber team of lawyers,” said Mr. Carlon.
Mr. Carlon received his J.D. magna cum laude from New York Law School and his B.A. cum laude from Fairfield University.
He joins Day Pitney from Kelley Drye & Warren LLP.
