The law firm of Miller Canfield announces that lawyer Gang Yuan (袁钢) has joined the firm in its New York City office in the Corporate Group. He will focus his practice on global M&A transactions, foreign direct investment and regulatory issues, especially in the oil and gas industry. He will continue representing Chinese, North American and European companies as they expand globally.
Mr. Yuan joins Miller Canfield from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer where he was counsel and head of its Energy and Natural Resources team in Beijing, China. He has spent the past eight years in the China offices of global firms, including Freshfields, the former Dewey & LeBoeuf, as well as Weil Gotshal.

Walawender, director of Miller Canfield’s Corporate Group. “He has vast experience in global M&A and corporate transactions and is well-known and respected in the rapidly growing sectors of energy and natural resources.”

In the past year, Miller Canfield announced the hires of Yanping Wang (corporate lawyer, Shanghai), Amber Liu (corporate lawyer, Chicago), Jun Chen (intellectual property lawyer, Chicago) and Chuanli (Blanche) Fan (China business consultant, Shanghai).
Mr. Yuan received his J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law. He earned his LLM at Peking University. He is qualified to practice law in the PRC and is admitted to the bar in the state of California.
