White and Williams LLP is expanding its comprehensive insurance practice with the addition of two well-known and respected partners whose practice focuses on the representation of insurance companies in insurance regulatory and transactional matters.
Industry leaders Robert Ansehl and Susan Lee come to the firm from Clyde & Co LLP. Bob will chair the firm’s Insurance Regulatory and Transactional Practice Group. “Bob and Susan’s practice is highly sophisticated and further broadens White and Williams’ strong reputation as a leader in representing the insurance industry,” said Guy Cellucci, Chair of the firm.
“Our practice of advising insurance company clients with respect to regulatory and corporate issues fits nicely with White and Williams’ already strong insurance and corporate practice areas,” said Ansehl. “These complementary practice areas will enable us to expand the services we provide to our clients,” Ansehl added.
Bob and Susan represent U.S. and international insurance and reinsurance companies, commercial and investment banks, private equity and hedge funds, derivative and financial products companies and producers and agents. They are conversant in the insurance regulatory aspects of transactions and have represented insurers, reinsurers, and producers in numerous regulatory matters, including the successful resolution of several multi-state market conduct and warranty and service contract issues. Bob and Susan bring substantial experience advising clients with respect to mergers, acquisitions, capital raising and capital markets transactions as well as captives, BOLI/COLI programs, securitizations, CAT bonds, ILS and alternative risk transfers. They also counsel clients on insurance and reinsurance-based swaps and derivative transactions and insolvency matters. Most recently, Bob and Susan advised on the acquisitions of Omega Insurance Holdings Limited and Hardy Underwriting Bermuda Limited, the sale of Sonoma Risk Management to Alteris, and the European Finance Group’s formation of a series of multi-jurisdictional master and feeder funds.
“We are delighted to build on the growing energy already established in our New York office and look forward to providing our clients with the experience and depth that Bob and Susan bring to the firm,” said Maulin Vidwans, Chair of the Business Department.
