Jenner & Block LLP is pleased to announce that Uri Doron, a mergers and acquisitions and private equity practitioner, has joined its New York office as a partner in the firm’s Corporate Department. The cross-border focus of Mr. Doron’s M&A practice will help further expand thefirm’s international capabilities.

Mr. Doron has 13 years of corporate experience working for U.S.-based law firms, including the past six years in the New York office of Reed Smith LLP. With an established international and U.S. client base, Mr. Doron will focus his practice on performing general corporate transactional and counseling work. He has a broad base of experience in a wide range of matters, such as mergers and acquisitions, complex joint ventures, strategic alliances and equity financings. Mr. Doron’s practice in recent years has focused on cross-border M&A transactions for European companies primarily in the Nordic region. His experience extends to representing companies in joint ventures, strategic alliances, going-private transactions, corporate governance matters and other general corporate matters. At Jenner & Block, he will also support the efforts of the firm’s private equity practice as it relates to M&A activity in the United States and abroad.

In recent years, the firm’s New York office of more than 50 attorneys has raised its profile across transactional as well as litigation disciplines. In the past few months, the New York corporate group closed the $1.35 billion registered debt exchange offer on behalf of US Foods and a $100 million follow-on public offering on behalf of NPS Pharmaceuticals as well as the cross-border sale of Obagi Medical Products to Valeant Pharmaceuticals in a contested $441 million cash tender. According to Bloomberg, the per-share premium to stockholders was the largest in a pharmaceutical transaction in at least the past four years. Last month, Jenner & Block announced the hiring of Neil Barofsky, a former federal prosecutor and first chief watchdog of the historic $700 billion federal bailout adopted in response to the 2008 financial crisis. Mr. Barofsky’s practice will include litigation work on behalf of private equity firms and hedge funds. This month, the firm hired Joseph L. Noga, the former deputy chief of litigation for the financial services unit of General Electric, GE Capital. Mr. Barofsky and Mr. Noga are partners based in New York.
From the United States, Mr. Doron has forged a strong international practice by establishing close-knit relationships with overseas law firms, mostly in northern Europe. Jenner & Block has established similar success in developing a thriving international transactional practice, all without offices outside the United States, through its strong connections with local law firms in the respective jurisdictions. Mr. Doron represents companies that span across various industries, including life sciences, medical devices, manufacturing, media, defense, financial services, high-tech, fashion and entertainment sectors.

Mr. Doron graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Laws degree from Tel Aviv University in 1998. He went on to clerk for two justices on the Israeli Supreme Court before earning a Master of Laws degree from New York University in 2000.
