Bracewell & Giuliani Adds Former Federal Prosecutor to New York Office

Bracewell & Giuliani LLP announced today that Glen A. Kopp, a former federal prosecutor, has joined the firm’s New York office as a partner in the White Collar Defense, Internal Investigations and Regulatory Enforcement practice. Most recently, Kopp served for almost six years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of New York, where he led complex domestic and international investigations and prosecutions of high-profile cases involving fraud, terrorism, national security, hostage taking, and narcotics and weapons trafficking.

At the firm, Kopp’s practice will focus on criminal trials, regulatory enforcement, litigation, and internal investigations.

“Glen’s outstanding reputation and track record as a prosecutor brings added depth and experience to the firm’s stellar white collar team,” said Senior Partner Rudolph W. Giuliani. “Additionally, his strong understanding of federal enforcement priorities and experience in handling investigations involving foreign governments will be a tremendous asset to the firm and its clients.”

“We’ve been consumed with jury trials and complex investigations all around the country in the last couple of years and Glen is the kind of first-rate lawyer we want in those serious cases,” said Marc L. Mukasey, who leads the firm’s White Collar practice.

Kopp comes to Bracewell after a highly decorated public sector career. The Attorney General’s Office honored him with the Award for Exceptional Service, the Department of Justice’s highest honor. He was also named Federal Prosecutor of the Year by the Federal Law Enforcement Foundation and received an Intelligence Community Legal Award for Team of the Year. Some of his notable cases include prosecuting Mario Villanueva Madrid, a former Mexican governor, for conspiring to launder millions of dollars of illegal drug proceeds, prosecuting Manssor Arbabsiar for plotting to assassinate the Saudi Arabian Ambassador to the U.S., and the 2010 spy swap deal orchestrated between the U.S. and Russia.

Kopp received a J.D. from Columbia Law School and an A.B., magna cum laude, from Duke University.
