Kelley Drye & Warren LLP is pleased to announce that Douglass C. Hochstetler and Beth D. Jacob have joined the firm as partners in the Intellectual Property and Technology Litigation group working from the firm’s Chicago and New York offices.  They each focus on patent infringement litigation representing pharmaceutical companies in Hatch-Waxman litigation.  They come from the law firm of Schiff Hardin, where both were partners.

Douglass C. Hochstetler

Mr. Hochstetler comes from the Chicago office of Schiff Hardin, where he was a partner for the past 10 years.  In addition to working as a partner and associate in a patent boutique firm in Chicago, Mr. Hochstetler served as in-house counsel at DuPont.  He has more than 25 years of legal experience representing companies in intellectual property disputes.

Mr. Hochstetler has been named a Leading Lawyer in intellectual property law by the Illinois Leading Lawyers Network.  He received his bachelor’s degree in chemistry, cum laude, from Princeton University, and graduated from the Georgetown University Law Center.

Beth D. Jacob

Ms. Jacob comes from the New York office of Schiff Hardin, where she was a partner and of counsel for the past 10 years.  Previously, she was a partner in the New York office of a national firm and a prosecutor at the New York County District Attorney’s Office, where she was assigned to the Rackets and Frauds Bureaus and originated and headed the Tax Prosecution Unit.

The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York has appointed Ms. Jacob as a mediator in the court’s mandatory mediation program.  She taught as an instructor in the forensic psychiatry fellowship program at Columbia Presbyterian/Weill-Cornell Medical Schools and as an adjunct assistant professor at Fordham Law School.

Ms. Jacob received her bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from Radcliffe College (Harvard University), and graduated from Yale Law School.
