Duane Morris LLP announced today that it is adding 16 Dewey & LeBoeuf lawyers to the firm, with extensive experience in areas such as corporate, insurance regulatory, energy, trial, antitrust, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, tax and employee benefits law. The lawyers will join Duane Morris in the New York, Boston and Washington, D.C. offices. The combination builds on Duane Morris’ broad national insurance, energy and technology practices, offering clients an expanded array of services.
The new lawyers were led to Duane Morris by Elizabeth W. Powers, who served on her former firm’s Executive Committee, and Alice T. Kane, former general counsel at New York Life and interim global general counsel of Zurich Financial Services.
At the same time, Cameron F. MacRae III will also be joining the new lawyers at Duane Morris. Mr. MacRae was previously vice chairman and longtime chairman of the corporate department of Dewey & LeBoeuf’s predecessor firm, LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae; his father, Cameron MacRae, Jr., was a name partner of that firm.
Joining the corporate practice group in Boston is partner Thomas H. Redekopp, who represents a broad range of technology clients in M&A and corporate finance transactions. Mr. Redekopp’s addition further builds out Duane Morris’ current practice with notable technology companies such as Zynga and Bambeco.
“We are very pleased to have these excellent lawyers join Duane Morris, complementing and expanding our strong practices in insurance, energy and technology, and across the entire corporate, litigation, and regulatory spectrum,” said John J. Soroko, Chairman and CEO. “Our insurance, energy and technology practices have been growing steadily nationwide and abroad, and we are proud of our excellent experience and results within those industries.” As an example, Duane Morris’ existing team of almost 100 insurance and reinsurance lawyers has been recognized as a “deep and talented group” boasting a “healthy national presence in the full range of insurer-side coverage disputes” in Chambers USA 2011.
“Duane Morris has, in its practice and reputation, proven to be among the top firms serving these industries,” Ms. Powers said. “We are honored to bring this group of talented lawyers to such a distinguished firm, and we believe this combination positions us to achieve outstanding results for both our clients and the firm.”
Nine of the new lawyers join as partners, three as counsel and four as associates.
