On the heels of hiring a core team of attorneys in the New Jersey-based Financial Services practice, national law firm Wilson Elser has retained another experienced attorney to grow its financial services/securities business. The firm is happy to report that Janene Marasciullo, a seasoned trial attorney and litigator, has joined its Midtown Manhattan office as a partner.
“Janene has had a 360 degree view of the disputes that arise in the financial services arena,” shared Partner Fred Knopf, chair of the firm’s Securities practice. “She’s worked in the public and private sectors, including nine years with the U.S. Department of Justice and two years at NASD, the predecessor to FINRA. She has handled regulatory inquiries, as well as customer and industry dispute matters, and has litigated hundreds of cases in federal courts and at FINRA Dispute Resolution. We are thrilled to have Janene on board and know she will make outstanding contributions to our clients and the firm as a whole.”
Ms. Marasciullo has extensive first-chair experience litigating complex commercial cases, securities disputes, regulatory enforcement matters (including securities, tax and international trade disputes) and employment disputes. In addition, she has represented clients during grand jury investigations, conducted internal investigations and assisted corporations in making voluntary disclosures to federal regulatory agencies.
Prior to joining Wilson Elser, Ms. Marasciullo worked in private practice for law firms in New York and Washington D.C. She also worked for the U.S. Department of Justice in both the Tax Division and the Civil Division and the NASD, where she won numerous awards for her advocacy. Ms. Marasciullo also served as senior corporate counsel for global manufacturing company Tyco International. She started her legal career as a judicial clerk for the Honorable D. Brooks Smith, on the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
Ms. Marasciullo is admitted to the bar in the New York and Washington D.C. and is admitted to the U.S. Courts of Appeal for the District of Columbia Circuit and Fourth Circuit, the U.S. District Courts for the District of Columbia, the Southern District of New York, and the Eastern District of New York, and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Franklin & Marshall College (1986) and a J.D. with honors from George Washington University (1990), where she was a member of the George Washington Journal of International Law and Economics, and was awarded the Law Honors Scholarship for Academic Excellence, 1989-1990 and the Trustee Scholarship for Academic Excellence, 1988-1990.
