WilmerHale hired Drew G.L. Chapman for a New York legal job, according to a press release.
Hired as a partner, Chapman joins the securities department and the investment management group. He also will head the alternative investment practice.
His arrival at the law firm is projected to widen the scope of the work undertaken by the law firm due to his large stable of financial service clients, including private fund formation and transactional work.
“We are pleased to welcome Drew to WilmerHale,” co-managing partner Robert Novick with WilmerHale said. “Drew will act as a core investment management partner to our New York office. The transactional services that he provides complement the manner in which we currently represent our hedge fund and alternative asset management clients in this growing market.”
Chapman, who comes from leading the alternative investment group with Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, said he is particularly enthused about coming aboard the “thriving practice” at WilmerHale.
He holds law degrees from Fordham Univeristy School of Law and the Bond University School of Law in Queensland, Australia, according to the press release.
