Haynes and Boone, LLP New York welcomes back Todd Ransom as a partner in the firm’s Prime Brokerage and Equity Lending Practice Group, a specialized practice focused on leveraged and derivative products and brokerage transactions used by financial institutions and private and public funds.
“Adding Todd to our growing practice group is a natural step,” said partner Craig Unterberg, head of the Prime Brokerage and Equity Lending Practice Group. “Not only does he bring strong experience in prime brokerage and margin transactions, Todd is also well versed in an array of financial products and structures that are integral in the businesses of our buy- and sell-side clients.”
The firm’s platform for financial services includes prime brokerage and equity lending, derivatives and asset protection, broker-dealer, investment management, hedge funds and private equity fund matters. The firm’s New York financial services platform has been expanding rapidly and strategically with several recent hires, including multiple former in-house lawyers and regulatory attorneys with specific operational and market experience and broker-dealer, investment advisory and futures regulatory expertise. Partner Daren Domina, who heads the firm’s broker-dealer regulatory practice, notes that “with its robust and diverse capabilities, our financial services platform has become a key component of the New York office.”
Ransom brings increased transactional and regulatory bandwidth and experience to the firm’s financial services platform. He concentrates his practice in the areas of finance and energy, including representation of hedge funds, private equity firms, investment banks and other financial institutions. He regularly advises clients with respect to a wide variety of equity derivative transactions, hedging strategies, margin loans with a concentration on single stock and ‘40 Act company financings, and related regulatory issues and transactional matters.
Ransom also represents private equity firms, financial institutions, and energy companies in connection with energy asset acquisitions, divestitures and financing arrangements. Previously, Ransom served as an in-house counsel for Bank of America. He also is a former associate at Haynes and Boone.
