Ropes & Gray is pleased to announce that Jonathan Gill and Robb Tretter are joining the firm as partners in the private equity practice. Messrs. Gill and Tretter are both highly skilled and experienced attorneys and will immediately enhance the firm’s service to clients on transactions involving distressed assets.
They join the firm’s more than 300 legal professionals in the New York office and will work closely with the global private equity and bankruptcy practices.
The two attorneys have worked together for more than 10 years, advising private investment firms, corporations and financial institutions on transactions, primarily as part of leveraged buyouts, restructurings or recapitalizations. Most recently, both were partners at Bracewell & Giuliani.
“We are extremely pleased to add two attorneys of Jonathan and Robb’s caliber to work with clients across a wide range of transactions,” said Brad Malt, chairman of Ropes & Gray. “They both have a strong track record of success for advising on large and complicated transactions involving distressed assets.”
“The strength of Ropes & Gray’s attorneys across so many practices and the opportunity to provide my experience with distressed asset transactions is what attracted me to join the firm,” said Mr. Tretter. “Ropes & Gray has a great global reach and a reputation for client service. Robb and I hope to build upon that reputation with the capability to provide counsel on every aspect of a transaction in what are often highly complex circumstances,” said Mr. Gill.
Mr. Gill received his LL.M from Columbia Law School and LL.B from Adelaide University in Australia. Mr. Tretter received his J.D. from New York University School of Law and his B.A. from Cornell University.
