Kirkland & Ellis LLP is pleased to announce that Aaron Marks and Joshua Greenblatt will join the Firm as partners in the Litigation Practice Group in the New York office. They both will join Kirkland from Kasowitz Benson Torres LLP, where they were partners and Mr. Marks was a member of that firm’s management committee.
“Aaron and Josh have stellar reputations and successful track records for impressive clients, and bring additional strength to our commercial litigation team,” said Jeffrey C. Hammes, Chairman of Kirkland’s Global Management Executive Committee. “Our clients will benefit greatly from their experience on bet-the-company matters.”
Mr. Marks is an acclaimed commercial litigator and trial lawyer. He represents corporations, private equity and other investment firms, multinational financial institutions, and individuals in lawsuits and arbitrations involving securities, financial products, real estate, entertainment, mass torts and trade secrets, and has tried cases before juries around the country.
Mr. Greenblatt focuses on complex commercial, financial services and restructuring-related litigation. He has significant experience on a broad range of securities and credit-related matters, commercial and contract disputes, corporate governance issues and governmental investigations.
“Kirkland is excited that Aaron and Josh will join the Firm,” said Mark Filip, a member of Kirkland’s Global Management Committee. “They are highly respected in New York and nationwide, and known for their first-rate legal skills and their strong relationships with clients.”
Mr. Marks, 49, is regularly recognized by legal industry media as one of the leading commercial litigators and trial lawyers in the country. Over the past several years, Chambers USA has referred to Mr. Marks as “an amazing lawyer,” “brilliant and analytical – a real star,” and as being an “excellent tactician” and “very understanding and sensitive to the needs of in-house counsel.” Mr. Marks has also been recognized as a litigation star by Benchmark Litigation and Legal 500 U.S., in which this year he was listed as one of the 50 leading trial lawyers and commercial litigators in the United States and was named to the publication’s inaugural “Hall of Fame.” He was profiled by American Lawyer magazine as one of the nation’s 50 most accomplished litigators under age 45.
Mr. Marks earned his bachelor’s degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and his law degree from Emory University School of Law.
Mr. Greenblatt, 42, is recognized by Benchmark Litigation as a “Future Star” and was named to that publication’s Under 40 Hot List in 2016. He earned his bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from Cornell University and his law degree, cum laude, from Boston University School of Law.
“Kirkland is best in class in many practice areas. In particular, its outstanding reputation for handling large, complex litigation matters attracted me to the Firm. I look forward to using my experience and trial skills to help Kirkland continue to grow, and look forward to working with my new colleagues,” Mr. Marks said.
“I am excited to work with the Firm’s lawyers and build my practice at Kirkland. I hope to help the Firm’s private equity and other financial services clients with their complex litigation needs and to continue to grow this practice strength at Kirkland,” Mr. Greenblatt said.
