Top 100 U.S. law firm Akerman LLP today announced the continued growth of its largest office, New York, with the addition of healthcare regulatory and transactional partner Jordan T. Cohen. Prior to joining the firm, Cohen was based out of the New York office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP.
“The volume of mergers and acquisitions in the healthcare industry continues to rise and there are important factors clients must address throughout the transaction process,” said Robert Slavkin, chair of Akerman’s Healthcare Practice Group. “We are fortunate to expand our national practice with a skilled transactional lawyer like Jordan who has a comprehensive knowledge of the healthcare landscape and the regulatory compliance hurdles our clients face.”
Cohen advises clients on transactions involving healthcare providers and other healthcare-related platforms. He also provides guidance on healthcare regulatory matters, including compliance with fraud and abuse laws such as the Anti-Kickback Statute and the Stark Law, as well as state laws related to licensure and the corporate practice of medicine.
Akerman’s New York office includes nearly 120 lawyers with litigation and transactional strengths across such industry sectors as financial services, real estate, healthcare, restaurant, and hospitality, as well as leading experience in mergers and acquisitions, labor and employment, bankruptcy, intellectual property, and tax matters.
