Alston & Bird’s Corporate & Finance Group continues to expand its market-leading private equity and private credit practices by adding partner Bijal Vira in New York. Vira arrives at the firm from Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP.
Bijal focuses on the representation of private equity and credit opportunity funds, foreign and domestic asset managers, hedge funds, insurers, family offices, and other private investment firms. He works with clients to structure debt and equity investments, including situations requiring growth or structured equity, venture debt, hybrid capital, or buyout solutions. He also guides clients through leveraged finance transactions, special situations, and complex workouts, as well as transactions requiring restructuring solutions.
“As we continue to expand our transactional practices in New York, we welcome Bijal as a key addition to our nationally recognized private credit team,” said Mike Parisi, Alston & Bird partner and head of the corporate debt finance practice. “Bijal’s ability to manage both the debt and equity work for asset managers and investment funds, combined with his special situations and restructuring experience, will further solidify our position as a leader in the private markets investment space.”
Bijal’s arrival follows the firm’s recent recruitment of several corporate partners in the New York office. Adam Heasley, George Silfen, Heather Wyckoff, Sam Roh, David Grimes, and Patrick Rowe advise asset managers and other institutional investors from the formation of investment vehicles through the investment of funds across the capital markets spectrum.
“Alston & Bird has a phenomenal platform to advise the most sophisticated and influential institutional investors, and I am excited to be part of the firm’s ongoing investment in the New York private equity and debt finance practices,” said Bijal. “I look forward to continuing my career with my new colleagues and further enhancing the firm’s growing private markets practice.”
