Andrews Kurth Adds High-Profile, White Collar Litigator Mark Mandel in New York

Andrews Kurth is pleased to announce litigator, Mark S. Mandel has joined the firm’s New York office as a partner in the White Collar and Regulatory Enforcement practice.

Mr. Mandel joins from the New York office of Foley & Lardner LLP. Before entering private practice, he served as chief of the New York office of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s Division of Broker-Dealer Enforcement.

In his years as a private practitioner, Mr. Mandel has a track-record of obtaining positive results for some of the most prominent financial institutions. He has been involved in many significant securities enforcement matters including high frequency trading; auction rate securities; RMBS; structured products; stock lending; sponsored access; NYSE specialists and DMMs, among others. He represents hedge funds, directors and officers, corporations, investment advisers and investment banks in high-profile matters involving the SEC, Department of Justice and other investigative and regulatory agencies. His results for clients include:
•A no-enforcement-action letter on behalf of a major financial institution in the DOJ/SEC Squawk Box investigations.
•The dismissal with prejudice of a major international investment bank from a $140 million securities fraud lawsuit arising from the aborted sale of a Polish telecommunications company.
•A no-enforcement-action letter on behalf of a large NYSE-listed Real Estate Investment Trust, from the SEC following the investigation of a restatement stemming from allegations by a former chief financial officer claiming whistleblower status.
•The dismissal with prejudice of a NYSE-listed international telecom company in a securities fraud claim seeking $100 million in damages arising out of the sale of a Greek cellular phone company.
