Global law firm Ashurst has appointed Lloyd Harmetz as partner in the global markets practice, based in New York. Lloyd joins the firm from Morrison & Foerster, where he has been partner for over 15 years. His practice focuses on securities offerings by financial institutions, including investment grade securities and structured products linked to equities, commodities, interest rates and other underlying assets.
Lloyd also specializes in structuring continuous offering programs that are registered under the Securities Act, or exempt from registration under Regulation S, Rule 144A and Section 3(a)(2) of the Securities Act.
Lloyd also advises clients as to relevant FINRA rules relating to their securities offerings, and advises on a variety of distribution agreements relating to securities offerings. Lloyd’s experience also includes public and private placements of equity securities by technology companies and other issuers. He has previously been based in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Beijing and Tel Aviv.
“We are delighted that Lloyd is joining Ashurst,” Mike Logie, Head of Global Markets (UK/US) said. “We have a leading global structured products practice representing both US and non-US banks, and expanding that offering with Lloyd’s depth of experience and expertise in the US markets will add strength to our capabilities. As well as his structured products capabilities, Lloyd is also highly experienced in broader US debt capital markets, which will also be critical in supporting our global offering. Lloyd’s joining will help us to capitalise on our cross-border offering activity and further scale up our capital markets offering.”
New York office managing partner Sharon Kim commented that Lloyd’s expertise will be a valuable addition to the firm’s offering in New York. “Lloyd’s knowledge in both structured products and overall US capital markets will be hugely beneficial to the teams that support our leading international financial institution and corporate clients,” she said. “We are extremely pleased that he will be joining us in New York.”
Lloyd added: “I am really looking forward to joining the team and to building and expanding my practice representing banks and other issuers in securities offerings, including complex debt securities. I am excited to be joining a firm in which my practice is so well integrated, and where I will be able to contribute to the growth of the firm’s global structured products team and broader finance offering.”
