Experienced Transactional Attorney Nick Marchica Joins Baker & McKenzie

Nick Marchica has joined Baker & McKenzie’s North American Corporate & Securities Practice as a partner in New York, bringing extensive experience in advising global companies on corporate transactions, with an emphasis on those involving the Asia Pacific region.

Mr. Marchica has advised domestic and international companies, private equity firms and commercial banks throughout the Asia Pacific region and in the US on a range of market-shaping M&A transactions. He has substantial experience in cross-border transactions, structuring new projects, project acquisitions and disposals, joint ventures, and commodities sales and purchases.

Mr. Marchica returns to practice in New York after recently being based in Jakarta and Sydney, representing clients on a range of cross-border and multijurisdictional transactions.

Represented PT Gunung Sewu Kencana on its strategic partnership with Nippon Life Insurance Company through Nippon Life’s direct and indirect investment of a 20% effective stake in GSK’s subsidiary, PT Asuransi Jiwa Sequis Life (approximately $423.1 million).

Represented Inner Mongolia Manshi Coal Group Co., Ltd. on its acquisition of a 55% interest in an Indonesia coal mining company.

Represented the sellers on the sale of a 40% stake in PT Bank Mayapada International, Tbk to Cathay Life Insurance Co. Ltd.

Represented Nirvana Development on an investment by an affiliate of Warburg Pincus into Nirvana’s portfolio companies that operate various shopping malls.

Represented PT Thiess Contractors Indonesia on its sale of three toll road operating companies to strategic purchasers.
