Faegre Drinker announced today that Ilene Froom has joined Faegre Drinker’s investment management group as a partner in the New York office. Froom joins from Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP where she was partner.
Froom counsels buy-side and sell-side clients, including hedge funds, asset managers, banks, and corporations on derivatives and other financial products and agreements, including ISDA Master Agreements and Credit Support Documentation, trading documentation for all asset classes, prime brokerage agreements, lock-ups, GMRAs, MRAs, MSFTAs and structured notes. Her practice entails advising on trading documentation, deal structures and regulatory matters.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming Ilene to the investment management group and strengthening our derivatives practice for our clients,” said David Williams, investment management group leader. “Ilene is nationally recognized for her work in the derivatives space, and her experience both in-house and in private practice makes her an excellent resource and asset to our team.”
Froom uses a practical approach to negotiating and structuring derivatives and other financial transactions that takes into account a client’s individual business goals while managing risks related to regulatory, compliance and documentation requirements. She has deep experience in transactions across a variety of asset classes and regulatory documentation.
“Ilene’s impressive track record servicing buy-side and sell-side clients in commodities and derivatives regulatory and transactional work contributes to her being a strong addition to our team,” said Laura Appleby, New York office leader. “Her presence at the firm will benefit both our clients and our New York office.”
Froom is a frequent speaker and educator on derivatives topics and often presents at conferences, including for ISDA, the New York City Bar and Practicing Law Institute (PLI). She has also guest lectured about derivatives at Georgetown Law School, George Washington University Law School and New York Law School. She currently chairs the New York State Bar Association’s Derivatives & Structured Products Law Committee.
Froom earned her Bachelor of Arts from Brandeis University and her Juris Doctor from New York University School of Law.
