Fenwick Grows Media Technology Practice, Adds Partner Vejay Lalla in New York

Fenwick & West announced today that Vejay Lalla has joined the firm as a partner in its New York office. Lalla joins Fenwick’s world-class technology transactions practice, part of the firm’s intellectual property group.

Lalla’s practice focuses on technology, IP and digital media transactions. He counsels leading content and media companies—both traditional and online—along with ad tech, media tech, marketing communication, consumer products, fashion and beauty brands, and health and wellness startups, in navigating the convergence of technology, advertising, media, e-commerce and entertainment. Lalla advises clients on the potential impact of these trends from a commercial, IP, regulatory and privacy standpoint.

“Vejay’s extensive experience and entrepreneurial spirit make him a great addition to our firm,” said Fenwick IP chair Rajiv Patel. “He will expand our presence in the digital media and consumer technology space, while also providing additional technology transactions depth in our growing New York office.”

“We are delighted to welcome Vejay to the Fenwick team,” said Jennifer Stanley, the firm’s copyright practice chair and games industry group co-chair. “Vejay is an innovator and a solution-oriented counselor for companies facing novel business and legal issues in the digital media and consumer tech space.”

“I’m thrilled to be joining Fenwick,” Lalla said. “Its strong focus on technology companies—and robust offerings to emerging companies and other innovators — is an ideal match for my practice and the needs of my clients.”

Lalla advises clients on their commercial transactional and IP needs, including content distribution and licensing arrangements, both in traditional media, such as film and television, and digital distribution through social platforms, e-commerce channels, and digital and mobile applications. He also assists clients with related commercial and regulatory issues, including U.S. Federal Trade Commission endorsements, influencer marketing, talent acquisition, promotions, native advertising, programmatic media transactions, behavioral targeting, privacy, rights of publicity, and user-generated content or other copyright issues.

Honored by Chambers USA and The Legal 500 for his work, Lalla received his law degree from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Boston University. He is a mentor and speaker at numerous incubators and accelerators in the New York and Los Angeles areas and was the director of business and legal affairs at Lifetime Television supporting its creative, television and film production units before joining his prior law firm. Lalla is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey.
