Fox Rothschild LLP is pleased to announce that Joshua Kopelowitz has joined the firm in New York as a partner in the Litigation and Real Estate practice groups. Prior to joining Fox, Kopelowitz was a member of the Litigation Department at Rosenberg & Estis, P.C.
“Josh will be invaluable to our clients, particularly the New York real estate developers and investors. His background includes vast experience in handling negotiations, as well as complex litigation and alternative dispute resolution for commercial and residential leasing projects,” said Janet MacLeod, Managing Partner of Fox’s New York Office.
A skilled commercial litigator, Kopelowitz concentrates his practice on assisting landlords and developers with commercial and residential leasing, rent regulatory matters, brokerage claims and contracts. He regularly works with real estate owners and investors who are dealing with rent law changes and other issues surrounding New York’s Housing Stability and Tenant Protection Act (HSTPA). Clients benefit from his informative HSTPA presentations as well as his pragmatic insights and strategic business and operational guidance.
A tenacious advocate, Kopelowitz has represented a range of real estate and major commercial clients before state and federal courts, including the New York Supreme Court’s Appellate Division and Civil Branch. His experience includes negotiating air rights and adverse possession claims, terminating a 15-year commercial lease because of tenant’s insurance default and voiding a 40-year rent-stabilized lease based upon illegality.
He earned his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School and his B.S. from Indiana University.
