Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer announced today that it has added H.T. Flanagan as a partner in its U.S. finance practice in New York with a focus on capital solutions. Flanagan arrives at the firm from Weil, Gotshal & Manges, LLP.
“H.T. is well positioned to advise Freshfields’ private capital clients in structuring, negotiating and implementing complex capital solutions in the U.S. and globally,” said Partner and Global Co-Head of Leveraged Finance Allison Liff. “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work alongside H.T. again as our credit fund and private equity clients navigate capital and financing challenges in the current environment.”
Flanagan’s practice focuses on providing strategic advice to private capital clients, including credit funds, alternative lenders and other financial institutions on capital solutions, special situations, liability management transactions and other bespoke debt and hybrid capital financing transactions. He also advises private equity firms and their portfolio companies on a wide range of traditional leveraged financing transactions covering acquisition financings, working and growth capital facilities and debtor-in-possession financings.
“H.T. brings experience and expertise in capital solutions that will be invaluable to our private capital clients,” said Sarah Solum, the firm’s U.S. Managing Partner. “Our team is extremely well-positioned to advise clients as they navigate dynamic and changing market conditions.”
Flanagan added, “I am excited to join the impressive Freshfields’ team, reuniting with Allison and Damian to continue working with private capital clients on their most complicated and innovative financing matters. Freshfields’ collegial and globally integrated platform is ideally suited to serve the dramatic expansion of the private credit universe and the need for creative capital solutions, and I look forward to lending my experience in, and passion for, the space to further enhance the firm’s market leading finance practice.”
This news is the latest in a series of curated strategic partner additions in the U.S. and around the globe. Freshfields recently announced it had brought on board capital solutions and finance partner Damian Ridealgh and financial regulatory partner David Sewell in New York, a four-partner strategic risk team based in Silicon Valley and Washington DC led by Beth George and antitrust litigators Heather Lamberg in Washington DC and Tina Sessions in Silicon Valley. Finally, the additions of Damian and H.T. in New York complement Freshfields’ global investment in capital solutions, including the recent appointments of Lisa Stevens in London and Daniel Anderson in Hong Kong.
