Freshfields announced today that Tim Clark has joined the firm’s global transactions group in New York to lead our global funds practice, one of the key pillars of our private capital business that serves our financial sponsor clients across the full spectrum of their legal needs in the US and globally. Tim joins recent lateral private capital partner hires in our leveraged finance, capital solutions and bank regulatory businesses. Clark arrives from Goodwin Procter LLP in New York.
Tim’s practice focuses on private capital, specifically fund formation and secondaries transactions. He has had a long and distinguished career representing private fund managers in the formation of closed-end funds that invest in a wide variety of strategies, geographies and industries. He is also a leading lawyer in the private equity secondary marketplace, representing both sponsors and buyers across the full spectrum of secondaries transactions.
“It is a strategic imperative to continue building a world class private capital practice in the US,” said Head of US Transactions Pamela L. Marcogliese. “Tim’s experience in fund formation and secondaries transactions strengthens the breadth and depth of our practice, underscoring our commitment to addressing our clients’ business needs.”
Global Co-Head of Private Capital Charles Hayes noted, “Tim’s diverse portfolio of work across various industries and regions makes him an asset to our US and global practices. Bringing him into Freshfields is our latest move to strengthen our client offering across key areas of private capital — private equity M&A, capital solutions and private funds — further cementing our standing as a preeminent law firm in the global private equity community.”
Tim added: “Freshfields has an impressive track record recently of successfully challenging incumbent players in the US marketplace and I am very excited to join my experience with its private capital practice.”
