Goodwin Strengthens Real Estate Industry Practice in New York with Partner Jarrid King

Global law firm Goodwin today announced that Jarrid King has joined the Real Estate Industry practice as partner, resident in the New York office. Prior to joining Goodwin, Mr. King was a partner in the real estate group at DLA Piper.

“Jarrid’s experience with sophisticated lender- and borrower-side financings and equity investment transactions complements our deep bench in those areas,” said Minta Kay, chair of the Real Estate Industry practice. “In addition, his work at the intersection of real estate and life sciences fits seamlessly with our Propsci offering, which advises parties involved in acquiring and financing properties dedicated to life sciences and biotech uses. We are thrilled to welcome Jarrid to the Goodwin partnership.”

King represents banks, private equity funds, REITs, insurance companies, foreign pension funds, owners, developers, and investors in permanent, bridge, construction, and mezzanine loans, preferred equity investments in joint ventures, and other financing structures intended for securitization, full or partial syndication, and balance sheet. He has extensive borrower- and lender- side loan workout and restructuring experience.

Earlier in his career, he served as lead transaction manager for the commercial real estate lending large loan group of a multinational investment bank and financial services company, and as associate general counsel at a public government-sponsored enterprise.

King joins Goodwin’s Real Estate Industry practice during a period of global expansion. Today, Goodwin also welcomed David Phelps, the third partner to join the practice in California in the past year, following the arrival of Zee Ahmedani and Alex Jacobs. Earlier this year, the firm announced the hire of partners Markus Käpplinger and Sebastian Bruchwitz in Frankfurt.

Goodwin’s Real Estate Industry practice spans fund formation, joint venture, finance and transactions, public company/REIT work, and real estate M&A. The firm’s pioneering Propsci practice focuses on addressing the growing real estate needs of life sciences companies as they face challenges in developing land and facilities that support their businesses in a continuously evolving sector. Goodwin’s groundbreaking Proptech practice, the first of its kind among leading global law firms, combines the legal and innovative experience and market savvy of its real estate, technology, intellectual property and data privacy groups. Goodwin is consistently ranked as a top advisor in the real estate industry, including in Commercial Property Executive, Chambers, The Legal 500, and Best Lawyers.
