Hogan Lovells Boosts Corporate and Investment Funds Practice with Addition of Paul Downs

Hogan Lovells announced today that Paul Downs has joined the firm’s Corporate Practice Group as partner in the New York office. His addition is part of Hogan Lovells’ ongoing success in growing the New York market with practices that will benefit from the firm’s global strength.

Downs arrives from Jones Day, where he was as a partner in the M&A group in New York, and was co-head of the firm’s Sovereign Investor Practice.

“Paul is a talented lawyer, whose transactional and cross-border experience is a natural fit with our M&A and Private Equity teams,” said David Gibbons, global head of the firm’s Corporate Practice Group. “His skill set and successful track record for clients will continue to strengthen our offerings both nationally and on a global scale.”

Downs practice focuses on domestic and cross-border investments, M&A, joint ventures, and other transactions. He brings to Hogan Lovells’ Corporate Practice Group particular knowledge of the sovereign wealth fund and governmental pension plan environment and perspectives from his work with a varied and loyal clientele.

“Hogan Lovells’ global platform combined with the firm’s strong M&A and private equity capabilities in the major financial centers are invaluable to providing clients with leading, cutting edge services in diverse markets that are subject to increasing regulation and increasing numbers of regulators,” said Downs.

Downs is an active member of the International Bar Association, serving as President of the American Foreign Law Association. He also serves as a director of Council for the United States and Italy and as a trustee of International House, New York. Downs earned a J.D. from Harvard University, and an A.B. from Princeton University.
