Holland & Knight Strengthens Healthcare Practice in New York

Holland & Knight has expanded its Healthcare & Life Sciences Team with the additions of Brian Platton and Nili Yolin as partners in the firm’s New York office. Mr. Platton and Ms. Yolin, who were previously partners at Mintz, represent a broad range of clients on matters both transactional and regulatory.

“Brian and Nili are highly skilled and versatile practitioners who possess a thorough understanding of the regulatory and transactional environment in which our clients operate,” said Jeff Mittleman, co-leader of Holland & Knight’s Healthcare & Life Sciences Industry Group. “Moreover, they are natural complements to our broader transactional practices across the firm and are key components of our continuing efforts to expand our New York footprint in healthcare.”

The additions of Mr. Platton and Ms. Yolin follow the recent hiring of fellow New York healthcare partner William Weiner in August.

Mr. Platton’s practice focuses on transactions in healthcare and life sciences and regulatory matters related to such transactions. He represents academic medical centers and medical schools,non-academic hospitals, non-hospital providers, managed care organizations, contract manufacturing organizations, investors in healthcare and life sciences (including venture capital funds, private equity funds and hedge funds), life sciences companies and healthcare information technology companies. For nearly 40 years, he has advised clients with respect to mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, financings, investments, licensing, joint ventures, innovation programs, strategic alliances and partnerships, governance structures, marketing arrangements, services arrangements, outsourcing and other contracting. Mr. Platton is recognized by both the Chambers USA and Best Lawyers in America guides as a leading practitioner in healthcare law.

“Joining the established and growing team of healthcare lawyers at Holland & Knight only enhances the service offerings I can extend to my clients in New York and beyond,” Mr. Platton said. “I am particularly thrilled to join a firm that is well-known for its culture of collaboration, diversity and inclusion, and I look forward to working with the impressive talent the firm has amassed in key markets across the United States.”

Ms. Yolin counsels hospitals, large and small group practices, community-based providers of behavioral health and social services, managed care organizations and emerging companies in connection with various transactional matters such as joint ventures, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and affiliations, primarily within New York’s heavily regulated environment. She draws on her knowledge of federal and state laws to help clients structure complex transactions and enter into professional services, consulting services and other arrangements that reduce their risk of liability under intricate regulatory frameworks such as corporate practice of medicine, anti-kickback and self-referral (Stark) laws. Ms. Yolin is recognized by both the Chambers USA and Best Lawyers in America guides as a leading practitioner in healthcare law.

“I share Holland & Knight’s commitment to full-service healthcare transaction capabilities and my clients will benefit from this team’s in-depth understanding of the industry and its regulatory challenges,” Ms. Yolin said. “I am particularly excited to be part of a growing practice in New York, and aim to play a meaningful role in further strengthening our position.”
