Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP announced that Alexandra Poe joined the firm as a partner in its Corporate Department. Poe joins from Reed Smith, where she was the co-chair of the Private Fund Formation and Counseling practice in that firm’s Global Corporate Group.
“Alexandra’s wide breadth of experience in investment management is in high demand, and she will be instrumental in providing the exceptional skills and services we offer to our clients in this area,” said Ted Mayer, chair of the firm. “We are pleased to welcome her and look forward to working together.”
Poe has over 25 years of experience in investment management practice, representing investment advisers and institutional investors, and also represents government contractors in compliance matters.
Poe has counseled hedge and private equity fund advisers in all stages of their business, including fund formation, domestic and cross-border structuring, adviser registration, compliance program development, compliance training and advice, placement arrangements, marketing, client relations, side letter and seeding arrangements, implementation of liquidity strategies, and day-to-day trading and operations advice. She also advises clients acquiring investments in non-traditional assets, and in sponsoring or participating in managed account programs or other bespoke investment service platforms. She has also represented financial industry clients in connection with mergers and acquisitions, strategic joint ventures, regulatory examinations, implementation of prosecutorial settlement agreements, governance matters and due diligence.
Poe also brings considerable in-house experience in general counsel and chief legal officer roles, advising boards and C-suite officers on matters of consequence, including responses to government examinations and investigations, investor litigation, and fiduciary and auditor independence issues.
“I am thrilled to be bringing my private fund and asset management experience to Hughes Hubbard’s corporate practice, and to be supporting colleagues like Roel Campos and Terence Healy, on regulatory compliance matters,” said Poe. “In addition, I know Hughes Hubbard will be a great home for clients with matters in government contracting, public-private partnerships, finance and fine art. I feel very lucky to be introducing a firm with such an excellent reputation to my clients.”
She is a Co-Founder and Chair Emeritus of High Water Women Foundation and chaired the HWW Symposium: Investing for Impact, in 2013 and 2014.
Poe earned her J.D. from New York University School of Law and her B.S. from Cornell University.
