Iliana Kirova Joins Mayer Brown as Partner in New York

Mayer Brown announced today that Iliana Kirova, a highly regarded fund formation lawyer, has joined the firm’s Corporate & Securities practice as a partner in New York. Ms. Kirova comes to Mayer Brown from the New York office of Ropes & Gray.

“Iliana offers impressive experience in representing a variety of clients, including funds and institutional investors,” said John W. Noell Jr., the head of Mayer Brown’s global Investment Management and Fund Formation group. “She brings a dynamic element to our growing fund formation practice, which will be of immediate benefit to our clients in New York, a global hub of private equity activity, and around the world.”

Ms. Kirova advises private investment funds with fundraising and regulatory compliance. She also represents fund sponsors in the construction and organization of a variety of private investment funds, including private equity buyout funds, funds of funds, real estate funds, and secondary funds, among others. She provides advice to clients on alternative investments and direct co-investments. Finally, she counsels fund managers in a variety of areas, including the transfer of fund interests, the dissolution and termination of funds, and various types of restructurings and capitalizations.

Ms. Kirova received a JD with honors and a LLM from Washington University in St. Louis. In addition, she earned a master’s degree in law with honors from Sofia University in Bulgaria.
