Kirkland & Ellis LLP announced today that leading private equity attorney Jennifer Perkins has joined the Firm’s Corporate Practice Group in New York.
“Jen is a highly skilled attorney with an exemplary reputation in the private equity space,” said Jeffrey C. Hammes, Chairman of Kirkland’s Global Management Executive Committee. “Her commercial approach to sophisticated transactions makes her an ideal fit for Kirkland’s private equity practice and our New York office.”
Ms. Perkins regularly represents leading private equity sponsors in leveraged buyouts, dispositions and other corporate transactions. She was previously a partner of Latham & Watkins in New York and served as global co-chair of the firm’s private equity practice. She has been recognized as a leading private equity lawyer by publications including Law360, which named her a Private Equity MVP, Chambers USA and the M&A Advisor, which named her to its “40 Under 40” list of leading M&A lawyers. She holds a J.D., cum laude, from Cornell Law School, and a B.A., Phi Beta Kappa, from Binghamton University. She is also on the board of DOROT, a nonprofit organization providing a wide range of services for seniors, and is a trustee of Larchmont Temple.
“I’m excited to join Kirkland’s premier private equity practice,” said Ms. Perkins. “Kirkland has a deep bench of talented attorneys, many of whom I’ve worked with throughout my career, and has an outstanding private equity platform, which will provide me with a wonderful opportunity to continue to grow and develop my practice.”
Kirkland has one of the largest private equity practices in the world, serving more than 400 private equity firms in a broad range of complex transactions. Mergermarket credits the Firm for handling more than 300 private equity buyouts and exits worth more than $130 billion in 2017 alone, placing Kirkland at the top of the league tables for global and U.S. buyouts and exits by both value and deal count.
