Lewis Brisbois is pleased to welcome Marcantonio (“Marco”) Barnes to its Washington, D.C. office as a partner in the Corporate Practice. With more than two decades of experience in business and law, Mr. Barnes focuses his practice on corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, in the energy, communications technology and financial services sectors. Prior to joining Lewis Brisbois, Mr. Barnes practiced with Womble Bond Dickinson LLP where he represented public and private companies in a variety of transactions and general corporate matters. Before entering private practice, he served as in-house counsel for a large technology company.
In discussing his decision to join Lewis Brisbois, Mr. Barnes explained that having access to the resources of a large firm appeal to him because these resources are essential to supporting his client’s global business strategies. “This move is about growth – growth of my practice and the expansion of available resources for my clients,” he noted. In addition, Mr. Barnes described his passion for promoting diversity. “I see an opportunity at Lewis Brisbois to enhance the connection between the work and our commitment to improving diversity in the legal profession. A large portion of my ability to connect with clients has to do with our shared passion for diversity. All of my clients care about this issue and want to do more. They want to engage, connect, and participate in dynamic growth and meaningful development of other people.”

Mr. Barnes earned an L.L.M. from the Georgetown University Law Center, a J.D. from the George Mason University School of Law, an M.B.A. from the University of Virginia, and an undergraduate degree from George Mason University. He is licensed to practice in the District of Columbia, in state and federal courts in Virginia, in New York, and before the U.S. Court of Federal Claims.
