Lewis Brisbois is pleased to welcome Allen Sattler to its Orange County office as a partner in the Data Privacy & Cybersecurity Practice. Sattler joins Lewis Brisbois from Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP, where he served as Vice Chairman of the firm’s national Data Security & Privacy Liability practice. He brings to Lewis Brisbois over a decade of experience handling large-scale data breaches and cyber liability matters.
“I am very excited to join the nationally recognized and award-winning team led by Sean Hoar at Lewis Brisbois,” Sattler said. “Lewis Brisbois has a fantastic reputation and wide-reaching capabilities, with strong industry relationships and proven client servicing,” he added.
Sattler has practiced law in New York and California, counseling numerous clients on incident responses, preventative cybersecurity measures, and regulatory compliance. As part of his practice, he has handled California Consumer Protection Act (CCPA) compliance projects and has responded to state attorney general investigations.
Sattler’s clients have included domestic and foreign insurance and reinsurance companies, including Lloyd’s of London syndicates and companies underwriting in the London Market. His well-developed experience in London began in 2013 when he was seconded with Amlin, a managing agent for Lloyd’s Syndicate 2001. Since that time, Sattler has continued to expand his professional network, which now includes several London-based insurers that underwrite cyber insurance.
“We look forward to the contributions that Allen will make to our team. He is in a position to provide unique perspectives because he not only has extensive experience in the U.S., but also in the London Market. Allen’s presence will allow Lewis Brisbois to continue to expand and enhance its data privacy and cybersecurity capabilities. We are excited that he has joined our practice,” said Data Privacy & Cybersecurity Practice Chair Sean Hoar.
In addition to handling client matters, Sattler regularly serves as a contributor, moderator, and presenter at domestic and London-based cyber industry conferences. He has participated in panel presentations at the Old Library in Lloyd’s of London and has served as a conference speaker for the Reinsurance Association of America.
Although cybersecurity matters comprise the majority of Sattler’s work, he also represents companies and professionals in defense of Labor & Employment disputes and with matters involving allegations of professional negligence.
“Sean Hoar and others on his team have a tremendous network and reputation which I am proud and honored to join,” Sattler said.
