Fox Rothschild LLP is pleased to announce that David A. Gehn and Matthew B. Baum have joined the firm’s Litigation Department as partners in the New York office. Prior to joining Fox, Gehn and Baum were partners at Ellenoff Grossman & Schole LLP.

With more than 30 years of experience as a litigator, Gehn helps clients resolve a full range of complex commercial and securities disputes and mitigate the risk of future legal action. His clients range from Fortune 500 companies to broker-dealers, registered investment advisers and individuals who are involved in civil, criminal, and regulatory investigations and litigation as well as contractual and transitional matters.
Gehn works to protect his clients’ interests in SEC, FINRA and CFP investigations and enforcement proceedings as well as in federal and state court litigation and in arbitration. Gehn was formerly an NFL Players Association-certified contract adviser and represents many active and retired professional athletes including the Pro Football Writers of America Defensive Player of the Year, the Fedex Ground Player of the Year, multiple current NFL Pro Bowlers, several recent top 10 overall selections in the NFL Draft, as well as three players selected in the top five of the NBA Draft. In addition, he represents many high-level amateur athletes and their families in matters, including NIL (name, image and likeness) as well as contract negotiation and due diligence.
Baum’s clients include broker-dealers, financial advisers, and RIA firms as well as businesses and individuals in litigation and arbitrations. He also serves as outside general counsel to multiple RIA firms. Baum appears on behalf of clients in state and federal courts and frequently helps clients navigate FINRA and SEC enforcement proceedings and investigations.
Baum litigates a wide variety of business, customer, and industry disputes, including those involving contracts, employment disputes, non-competition and non-solicitation restrictions, trade secrets, wrongful termination, fraud, and RICO claims.
Additionally, Baum frequently advises broker-dealers, RIA firms and financial advisers in connection with transitions and recruiting matters. He is a go-to resource for multiple large broker-dealers for transition-related and recruiting matters. Baum has also hosted multiple podcasts focused on the financial services industry.
Gehn received his J.D. from New York Law School and his B.S. from the University of Maryland, College Park. Baum received his J.D., cum laude, from New York Law School and his B.A. from the University of Michigan.
