Litigation Team of Jason Halper and Sara (Bussiere) Brauerman Join Vinson & Elkins in New York

Vinson & Elkins today announced that Jason Halper and Sara (Bussiere) Brauerman have joined the firm as New York-based partners in the firm’s Litigation Practice. The lawyers join from Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, where Halper was co-chair of the firm’s Global Litigation Group, head of the Corporate and Financial Services Litigation Practice, co-chair of the ESG Practice, and a member of the firm’s Management Committee.

Halper is a nationally recognized trial lawyer who brings significant commercial litigation experience. He routinely handles large-stakes commercial disputes, securities and corporate governance matters, including ERISA and RICO class actions, SEC, FINRA and stock exchange investigations and arbitrations, internal investigations, suits claiming breaches of fiduciary duty, insider trading or other alleged misconduct by corporate directors, and matters arising from M&A or other transactions involving changes in or contests for corporate control in the Delaware Court of Chancery and elsewhere.

Brauerman, who is admitted to the Delaware bar and began her career litigating in the Delaware Court of Chancery, handles a similar mix of litigation for public and private companies, underwriters, lenders, professional services firms and their partners, corporate directors and other individuals in a variety of industries, including financial services, professional services, insurance, and pharmaceuticals.

Halper is ranked among the leading securities litigators in New York in Chambers USA (2024). He is a frequent writer and speaker about corporate law, securities litigation, and governance topics, including climate-related regulatory issues impacting businesses.

Brauerman also is a ranked securities litigator in New York in the Chambers USA (2024) directory. She is the executive editor of the ABA’s Business Law Today publication and is a member of the Pro Bono Advisory Council of the New York Lawyers for the Public Interest, Inc.

He is a Lecturer in Law, focusing on corporate law issues involving governance, sustainability, compliance, and ethics, at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, and is a member of the Advisory Board of Harvard Law School’s Program on Corporate Governance.

Brauerman earned a Bachelor degree from Lafayette College and a Juris Doctor degree from the Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law, where she served as Admissions Editor of the Penn State Journal of Law & International Affairs.
