Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, has added S. Jeanine Conley as a shareholder in its Philadelphia and New York offices. Conley joins Littler from BakerHostetler, where she was a partner, and brings extensive experience in employment litigation. Littler continues to attract key lateral attorneys and Conley’s arrival follows the firm’s recent hire of shareholders Eli Freedberg in New York, Jennifer Schwartz in Miami, and Sarah Crossley in Toronto.
“Jeanine has a proven track record of successfully representing clients, including several Fortune 500 companies, in a range of employment-related disputes,” said Kristine Grady Derewicz, Littler’s Philadelphia office managing shareholder. “She is well-regarded in the Mid-Atlantic region as a leading employment litigator and has received multiple awards for her legal accomplishments and diversity efforts. Jeanine’s deep commitment to client service and to advancing diversity in the legal profession aligns well with Littler’s core values and we are delighted to welcome her to the firm.”
Conley counsels employers on compliance with laws and regulations governing the workplace. She has defended clients before several government agencies and in numerous employment-related disputes by obtaining favorable settlements, summary judgment or achieving victory at trial. Conley has experience with a wide variety of employment matters, including retaliation and whistleblower litigation, wrongful termination cases, discrimination and harassment claims, and wage and hour matters. She also regularly conducts workplace investigations and represents clients in matters relating to Dodd-Frank, Sarbanes Oxley and the False Claims Act.
“I was impressed by Littler’s approach to developing new and innovative service solutions that deliver greater value to clients,” Conley said. “I was also drawn to the firm’s various initiatives to attract attorneys from diverse backgrounds and provide business and career advancement opportunities for diverse attorneys. These types of initiatives show Littler’s commitment to embracing and understanding our evolving workforce.”
Active in the community, Conley is on the Executive Committee of the New York Urban League and the Executive Board of the Network of Bar Leaders. She also currently serves on the board of the Urban Assembly School for Criminal Justice, which seeks to prepare young women for college success. Conley is a past president of the Association of Black Women Attorneys and past chair of the New York City Bar Association’s Committee on Minorities in the Profession.
Conley has been recognized by numerous organizations for her accomplishments. Most recently, the Metropolitan Black Bar Association recognized Conley as Private Practitioner of the Year at their 32nd annual awards gala on May 20, 2016. Among other recognitions, Conley has been named a New York Super Lawyer in each of the past three years and was honored for her contributions to furthering the advancement of minority lawyers by Chambers “Women in Law” initiative in 2015. She received her J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center and her B.S. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
