Loeb & Loeb LLP is pleased to announce the arrival of Wanda French-Brown as a partner in the Patent Litigation & Counseling department. French-Brown, an accomplished litigator with a particular focus on the pharmaceutical and life sciences industries, represents clients in infringement matters before the federal courts, the U.S. International Trade Commission and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. Prior to joining Loeb & Loeb, French-Brown was a litigation partner in the Life Sciences department of McGuireWoods LLP.
With a background that includes a decade of experience working as a registered pharmacist in the health care and pharmaceutical fields, French-Brown regularly advises branded pharmaceutical companies on complex litigation strategies resulting from the Hatch-Waxman and Biologics Price Competition and Innovation Acts, which govern the entry of generic and biosimilar pharmaceutical products into the market. She is a trusted advisor to pharmaceutical companies on the scope and coverage of patents, new drug product exclusivity, and other issues arising from compliance with the Hatch-Waxman Act, including Paragraph IV certifications.
“Wanda deepens our litigation capabilities, allowing us to better serve our branded pharmaceutical company clients, particularly as they navigate the complexities of Hatch-Waxman litigation and other legal and business issues implicated by the entrance of generic products to market,” said Mark Waddell, chair of Loeb & Loeb’s Patent Litigation & Counseling department.
In addition to her work in the pharmaceutical space, French-Brown has broad technological knowledge, regularly representing clients in a range of technologies, including wireless communication and mobile devices, LCD and LED, biotechnology, medical devices, and health care diagnostics.
“Wanda is a stellar lawyer who brings a creative and analytical approach to each litigation matter. Not only is she a strategic and seasoned counselor, but she is also committed to advancing diversity and inclusion in the legal profession, which is a commitment Loeb as a whole shares, and we are excited to welcome her to our New York office,” said Laurie Ruckel, managing partner of Loeb’s New York office.
“Loeb & Loeb represents some of the leading pharmaceutical and life sciences companies in the world,” French-Brown said. “At a time when so many clients are navigating many complex and evolving issues, I’m thrilled to join this established team as they continue to help their clients strengthen their foothold in a very competitive market.”
In addition, French-Brown is a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion initiatives. She has served as a committee member on the New York State Bar Association’s Minorities in the Profession Committee, which is responsible for increasing the involvement of minority members in NYSBA activities.
She earned a J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law and a B.S. from Rutgers University College of Pharmacy.
