David H. Landau—an attorney who focuses on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, debt and equity financings, and other transactions for public and private companies and private equity funds—has joined Ballard Spahr as a partner in our New York office, firm Chair Mark Stewart announced today.
Mr. Landau routinely represents issuers and investment banks in equity offerings, high-yield debt offerings, and investment-grade debt offerings. He also advises on securities regulatory and general corporate matters. He joins Ballard Spahr from Katten Muchin Rosenman, where he was a partner in that firm’s mergers and acquisitions and securities practices.
“David possesses a depth of experience that clients look for, which makes him a strong addition to both our practice and our New York Office,” Mr. Stewart said. “As we build in New York and around the country, David is the kind of lawyer we want to attract.”
Mr. Landau represents clients both in the United States and abroad in industries including fashion and retail, financial services, technology, and media and entertainment. His arrival expands Ballard Spahr’s depth in mergers and acquisitions and securities and bolsters its transactional capabilities in New York, both of which are strategic priorities for the firm.
“Welcoming David to our New York office enhances our ability to guide clients through significant corporate transactions in a crucial market for deal activity,” said Brian M. Pinheiro, Chair of Ballard Spahr’s Business and Finance Department. “David has focused on M&A and securities transactional work for more than 25 years and has led dozens of big-ticket transactions. He is a fantastic addition to the office and to the firm.”
Mr. Landau’s significant industry experience in the fashion sector makes him a particularly good fit for Ballard Spahr. Our Fashion team represents fashion and lifestyle brands in the key legal areas affecting the industry—from intellectual property and corporate transactions to employment matters and litigation. Attorneys in the group counsel clients nationwide on issues involving brand development and protection, corporate expansions and financings, data security, branded credit cards and loyalty programs, real estate, and employment issues.
“I’m excited to join a firm that is committed to expanding its corporate practice in New York and that has the platform to help me expand my practice nationally,” said Mr. Landau. “I have sat across the table from lawyers on the Ballard team in the past. They’re an impressive group and I’m delighted to be joining them as a colleague.”
