Mayer Brown Adds Two Insurance Transactional and Regulatory Lawyers to Further Expand New York Office

Mayer Brown has strengthened its insurance transactional and regulatory capabilities with the arrival of two new lawyers in New York. Yevgeniy (Yev) Markov joins the firm as a partner in the Corporate & Securities practice in New York and as a member of the firm’s Global Insurance Industry Group. Mr. Markov was previously at Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP. Yuliya Feldman also joins in New York as a senior associate in the Corporate & Securities practice and Global Insurance Industry Group. Ms. Feldman joins from McDermott Will & Emery.

“Yev is highly sought-after to advise insurers on complex regulatory and enforcement matters,” said Larry Hamilton, leader of Mayer Brown’s US Insurance Regulatory & Enforcement group. “Yev’s experience, combined with his knowledge of the changing regulatory landscape, and Yuliya’s insurance transactional and regulatory experience will complement and broaden Mayer Brown’s extensive service offerings for our insurance industry clients. We look forward to integrating Yev and Yuliya into our premier insurance team.”
Mr. Markov advises clients on a variety of insurance regulatory and compliance matters. He is particularly skilled in advising insurance companies, insurance agencies and other entities regulated under state insurance laws on a wide array of regulatory matters, including those associated with M&A, formation, licensing and portfolio investments. Mr. Markov also advises on a variety of state and federal insurance regulatory initiatives, including activities undertaken by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and undertakings pursued by federal agencies under the mandate of the Dodd-Frank Act.
Ms. Feldman represents clients operating in the life, health, property and casualty, financial guaranty and title insurance industries with a variety of regulatory and transactional matters, including formation and licensing, product and program development, complex structured (re)insurance transactions and various aspects of non-admitted insurance compliance. She also advises insurtech companies on regulatory and corporate issues.
Mr. Markov added, “Mayer Brown’s strength in advising the insurance industry and collaborative culture is a perfect fit professionally, as it unlocks a wide-range of growth opportunities.”
“In addition to the arrival of Yev and Yuliya, Mayer Brown’s New York office has attracted nearly a dozen highly regarded laterals since the start of 2021 in practice areas of strategic importance to the entire firm,” said Matthew Ingber, the managing partner of Mayer Brown’s New York office.
