Mayer Brown announced today that Lucy F. Kweskin has joined its Global Restructuring practice as a partner in the New York office. One of several recent additions to Mayer Brown’s New York office, Ms. Kweskin joins from Proskauer Rose LLP.
“Mayer Brown’s demonstrated commitment to attracting top-tier talent and investing in its global restructuring offerings is integral to the execution of the firm’s strategic plan, and evident by its wave of lateral hires, including Lucy,” said Brian Trust, a co-leader of the Global Restructuring practice at Mayer Brown. “We have been building our global platform to meet growing client demand and Lucy’s appointment enhances our capability to support our clients in their most challenging restructuring matters.”
Ms. Kweskin regularly represents lenders, distressed investors, debtors, creditors, committees and other stakeholders in a range of bankruptcy-related matters, including with respect to debtor-in-possession financing and Chapter 11 plans. She handles all stages of complex corporate restructuring matters, whether in or out-of-court, and litigator disputes related to valuation, inter-creditor issues and breach of fiduciary duty. Ms. Kweskin also teaches a course at Columbia Law School on Advanced Bankruptcy.
“I was attracted to Mayer Brown’s integrated, multidisciplinary approach to restructuring and its focus on growing that practice globally,” said Ms. Kweskin. “The firm has an impressive client base and an enviable reputation for providing clients with comprehensive and innovative solutions.”
“Lucy is a strong addition to our rapidly growing New York office, particularly given her experience guiding clients through comprehensive restructurings and recapitalizations, both in and out of court,” said Matthew Ingber, the managing partner of Mayer Brown’s New York office. “We look forward to working with Lucy as we continue expanding in areas such as restructuring and private credit.”
In the last two years, Mayer Brown has significantly enhanced its Global Restructuring practice with the addition of partners Adam Paul and Louis Chiappetta in Chicago and Barry Cosgrave, Trevor Borthwick, Michael Fiddy and Amy Jacks in London.
