Mintz today announced that Jeremy Vest has joined the firm as a Member in the Litigation Practice, based in New York. Mr. Vest is an experienced litigator representing plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal courts throughout the United States in high-stakes commercial cases. Notably, the move to Mintz reunites Mr. Vest with leading litigator Courtney Rockett, who also joined from Boies Schiller at the end of June.
Mr. Vest, who was recently named to Benchmark Litigation’s “40 & Under Hot List,” which identifies top young litigation talent, has worked on a broad range of commercial and regulatory matters, including representing numerous clients in matters relating to structured products following the 2008 credit crisis. He has helped try two multi-billion dollar cases to verdict, including successfully representing the co-founder of a top-selling beverage in a trial that proved to be one of the largest corporate valuation proceedings in New York State history. In addition, he has successfully defended pharmaceutical and medical device companies in multiple life sciences cases.
Mr. Vest currently represents homebuyers and sellers in a putative class action against a leading New York residential real estate brokerage firm that takes on what The Wall Street Journal has called “the thorny issue in real-estate transactions known as dual agency.”
“Jeremy is a great addition to our firm,” said Mintz Managing Partner Bob Bodian. “He is a highly respected, first-chair litigator, who adds further breadth and depth to our Litigation Practice. Jeremy’s arrival, together with the recent addition of Courtney Rockett, puts more distinguished resources in the hands of our clients; and, together with our already deep bench of litigators, reinforces Mintz’s reputation as a go-to firm for complex litigation.”
In addition to Mr. Vest and Ms. Rockett, Mintz has added a number of highly regarded attorneys to the firm’s leading practice groups and U.S. offices this summer. Specifically, Louis Mercedes joined the firm’s Corporate & Securities Practice in Boston; Deirdre Johnson, Paul Kalish, Suman Chakraborty, Ellen MacDonald Farrell, and Elaine Panagakos joined Mintz’s Insurance and Reinsurance Practice, based primarily in the firm’s Washington, D.C. Office, with Mr. Chakraborty in New York; and Scott Thompson and Daniel Reing joined the firm’s Technology, Communications & Media (TechComm) Practice in Washington, D.C.
