Orrick announced today that leading capital markets advisor Alice Hsu has joined the firm as a partner. She is the fifth capital markets partner to join the firm this year and the third in New York. Named a 2021 Top Women Dealmaker by The Deal, Alice joins Orrick from Akin Gump.
Alice advises on capital markets and corporate governance matters, with particular experience in the energy and financial services sectors. Recently, she has been particularly active in the SPAC space, advising Starboard Value Acquisition Corp. on its $3.4 billion merger with Cyxtera Technologies and CIIG Merger Corp. on its $5.4 billion merger with Arrival. She acts for boards of directors, issuers, underwriters and investors on a broad range of transactions, including public offerings, private placements of equity and debt securities, and mergers and acquisitions.
“Alice is an exceptional lawyer with a stellar reputation in the financial community. She is a significant addition to our Capital Markets practice as we grow to meet client demand, and we’re thrilled to welcome her to our team,” said Matthew Gemello, leader of Orrick’s global Corporate practice.
“Orrick’s focus on tech, energy & infrastructure, and finance is a perfect match for my practice. I’m also excited about the firm’s forward-looking culture, including its focus on social impact, inclusion and innovation,” said Alice.
Alice follows the additions to Orrick this year of Marsha Mogilevich from Kirkland in New York, Mark Mushkin from Cravath in New York, Edward Dyson from Cooley in London, and Yael Li-Ran Perl from Fenwick in the Bay Area.
Orrick advises over 3,000 technology clients and 50 unicorns. Since 2020, we’ve counseled on 23 SPAC matters for companies such as Fisker Automotive, Luminar Technologies, Dave, Clover Health, SOC Telemed and Volta Industries.
