Perkins Coie Welcomes Established New York Investment Management Team

Perkins Coie is pleased to announce the expansion of its Investment Management practice in New York with the addition of partners Carl Frischling, Alexandra Kambouris Alberstadt, Aviva L. Grossman and Mark F. Parise.

Carl, who chaired Kramer Levin’s Financial Services Group, advises clients on regulatory and legal issues, including the structuring of complex mutual fund agreements and fiduciary obligations under the Federal securities laws. Carl has received numerous honors in his career, including a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013 from Fund Directions and its inaugural Independent Counsel of the Year Award in 2007. He is recognized by Chambers USA with a Band 2 Nationwide: Investment Funds ranking (2011-2016). In addition, he is noted by Legal500 US as a leading lawyer in investment fund formation and management in mutual and registered funds (2006; 2009 – 2016). He was named one of the Visionaries of the Modern Mutual Fund Industry by Strategic Insight in 2011. Carl earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School and received his M.B.A. and B.A. from Columbia University.

Alexandra advises investment companies and independent directors, investment advisers and public and private companies on regulation, governance and compliance. She represents U.S and global investment funds and advisers in connection with regulatory and compliance matters as well as in matters before the Enforcement Division of the Securities and Exchange Commission. Alexandra offers time and energy to significant pro bono initiatives centered around assisting New York not for profit corporations with governance, operations and compliance matters and expects to continue with her pro bono activities in the future. Alexandra earned her J.D., summa cum laude, from Michigan State University College of Law and received her LL.M. in Taxation from the New York University School of Law and her B.A. from St. John’s College.

Aviva counsels advisers, funds and independent directors on formation, governance and compliance issues related to the Investment Company Act and the Investment Advisers Act. She also advises companies on Investment Company Act status and structuring. A former attorney with the SEC Division of Investment Management, Aviva earned her J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and received her B.A., cum laude, from Yeshiva University.

Mark counsels clients on governance, regulatory compliance, corporate and transactional matters involving mutual funds, closed-end funds, hedge funds and investment advisers. He advises boards of directors, and funds and investment advisers on fiduciary obligations and matters pertaining to the Investment Company Act and Investment Advisers Act. Strongly committed to supporting pro bono initiatives, Mark is accredited to represent military veterans before the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. He earned his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School and received his B.A. from Hartwick College.
